Upcoming education: District Education, MDS 101 and 201

Digital District Meetings and Educations | Nov. 9-12

Join IHCA for its November Digital District Meetings and Educations, sponsored by HPSI Purchasing Services and Medline, that will be offered digitally live and on-demand. Education sessions will cover infection control surveys, as well as survey updates from Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) for nursing facilities and assisted living programs.

This digital education is approved for 3.0 CEUs for nurses, social services staff, department heads, administrators and assisted living managers. Participants who register will receive a link to the recordings that can be accessed on-demand from Nov. 15 to Dec. 31, 2021.

MDS 101: Introduction to the MDS 3.0 | Nov. 17

During this in-person educational event, participants will gain skills and knowledge that will help them understand how to accurately complete the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0, become familiar with the documentation required for the assessment, understand how the MDS can impact Quality Measures and how to use the RAI manual.

Participants can attend one or both MDS classes, but must sign up for MDS 101 and 201 individually as there is a separate registration fee for each class.

This in-person event is approved for 5.5 CEUs for social services staff, nurses and administrators. Click here to register.

MDS 201: Additional MDS 3.0 Training | Nov. 18

In this in-person class, participants will gain the knowledge and skills to accurately identify, understand and schedule various MDS 3.0 assessments and understand the CAA process, including triggers and the care plan requirements. The course will cover coding of Prospective Payment System (PPS) assessments and review the Patient-Driven Payment Model (PDPM) classification payment system. The MDS 201 education will provide additional focus on Section GG coding, review requirements for CAAs, timing for OBRA and PPS assessments and resident-centered care plans.

Participants can attend one or both MDS classes, but must sign up for MDS 101 and 201 individually as there is a separate registration fee for each class.

Education registration reminder
When registering for an IHCA education event or webinar, be sure to select “Register a Group” if your organization is responsible for invoice payment. Only one person registering for the event?  Still use “Register a Group”.  You will be able to select just yourself in the group registration process. If “Register Yourself” is selected, the individual registrant will personally be billed and be responsible for invoice payment.
