IHCA, ICAL and ICHC board nominations are open

Nominations are now being accepted for members in good standing interested in serving on the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA), Iowa Center for Assisted Living (ICAL) or Iowa Center for Home Care (ICHC) board of directors.

Members interested in running or nominating a candidate for these positions must complete a nomination form by no later than July 7, 2023.

Election timeline:

• July 7 – Nomination window closes
• Aug. 11 – Voting begins with ballots being distributed to members in good standing
• Sept. 12 – Voting concludes
• Sept. 19 – New board leaders elected announced at the IHCA, ICAL and ICHC Annual Meeting at the 2023 Annual Convention

Required IHCA, ICAL and ICHC board candidate qualifications

All candidates must possess the following qualifications:

• For all board positions, the candidate must be employed at a member or a corporation, partnership or organization that owns a member affiliated with IHCA, ICAL or ICHC.
• The member facility must be in good standing with IHCA, ICAL or ICHC by meeting all of the following criteria:
  • Paid all dues, fees and other charges due to IHCA, ICAL or ICHC.
  • Holds all necessary licenses, permits and authorizations to conduct its business in full force.
  • Compliant with all requirements imposed upon the member under the bylaws, as well as any other rules, policies and procedures of IHCA, ICAL or ICHC.
• For all officer positions, candidate must have been a member of the Board of Directors at least one of the last three years immediately prior to the election. The candidate for the IHCA Secretary/Treasurer position must have been a member of the IHCA, ICAL or ICHC Board of Directors at least one of the last three years.

Board member commitments

All candidates must be willing to commit to, but not limited to, the following:

• Attend all meetings of the board of directors – five meetings per year and any special meetings called.
• Serve on at least one IHCA, ICAL or ICHC committee or task force and participate in all meetings. Board chair serves automatically on the IHCA Strategic Planning Committee.
• Demonstrate leadership by serving in leadership positions and undertaking special assignments willingly when asked.
