2020-2021 board nominations due in 3 days

The 2020-2021 election cycle is open for IHCA, ICAL and ICHC members in good standing who are interested in serving on their respective boards.

Below is a timeline for the nomination and election process. Scroll further down to find the nomination requirements for the IHCA, ICAL and ICHC board positions.

Election process timeline

  • Member solicitations will be open until June 27.
  • The Board Nominating Committee conference call will be held in July.
  • The slate of potential candidates will be announced via the weekly IHCA Bulletin Aug. 12.
  • Electronic voting opens on Aug. 20.
  • Electronic voting closes on Sept. 20.
  • New board leaders will be announced at the IHCA, ICAL and ICHC annual meeting this fall.

IHCA members interested in running or nominating a candidate for any of the IHCA, ICAL or ICHC board seats must submit their name and short bio by June 27. If you are nominating another member, complete the form with their information. Complete the nomination form here.

Candidates are needed for the following seats. They are as follows:

IHCA board candidates

  • IHCA chair
  • Three IHCA vice-chairs
  • IHCA secretary/treasurer
  • Six IHCA directors-at-large

ICAL board candidates

  • ICAL chair
  • Two ICAL vice-chairs
  • ICAL secretary
  • IHCA treasurer
  • Four ICAL directors-at-large

ICHC board candidates

  • ICHC chair
  • ICHC vice-chair
  • ICHC secretary
  • IHCA treasurer
  • Four ICHC directors-at-large

Qualifications
All candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A qualified candidate for all officer positions (chair, vice-chair, secretary/treasurer) must have been a member of the IHCA board of directors at least one of the last three years. This does not apply to the director-at-large positions.
  • For all board positions, the candidate must be employed at a member or a corporation, partnership or organization that owns a member affiliated with IHCA.
  • The member facility must be in good standing with IHCA by meeting all of the following criteria:
    • Paid all dues, fees and other charges due to IHCA.
    • Holds all necessary licenses, permits and authorizations to conduct its business in full force.
    • Compliant with all requirements imposed upon the member under the bylaws, as well as any other rules, policies and procedures of IHCA.

Board commitment
All candidates must be willing to commit to, but not limited to, the following:

  • Attend all meetings of the board of directors – six meetings per year, the board retreat and any special meetings called.
  • Serve on at least one IHCA committee or task force and participate in all meetings.
  • Contribute not less than $50 annually to the Iowa Health Political Action Committee (PAC) during service as a board member.
  • Demonstrate leadership by serving in leadership positions and undertaking special assignments willingly when asked.
