Quality Assurance Nurse

Iowa Home Care is excited to be building a new Quality Assurance team of nurses in our West Des Moines location to support our home health agencies throughout the state. This is a unique opportunity for those with previous home care experience that love to review documentation, educate staff, and have a strong working knowledge of traditional home health regulation along with Iowa Medicaid waiver requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Efficiently review plan of cares and physician orders developed by field nurses. Review includes verifying all regulatory elements along with verification that the plan of care aligns with payer and professional standards.
2. Provide immediate and timely education to field staff when regulatory standards and/or organizational processes are not meeting standards.
3. Assist in the training and development of nursing staff as related to regulatory and documentation requirements imposed by CMS, Iowa Medicaid and Iowa Home Care policy/practice.
4. Multi-task and meet productivity requirements daily to maintain systems/flows for patient care delivery.
5. Provide patient care and on call duties when required. Typical on call duties involve triaging patient needs and cares during off business hours. On call is typically 1x per quarter. On call duties include home visits when needed.
6. Able to perform home visits, including OASIS data collection when needed.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
• RN with a minimum of 3+ years of recent home health experience
• High level of confidence in the care delivery process in a home health environment which includes OASIS data collection
• Strong knowledge of home health regulation and payers (CMS – CoP’s, Iowa Medicaid Home Health Policy/Practice, Iowa Medicaid Waiver programs)
• Strong working knowledge related to the home health authorization process in relationship to Managed Care Organizations.
• High level of confidence working with technology and within an EMR system
• Effective communicator that can interface with a wide variety of staff in a manner that is warm, inviting and eager to develop/grow. Communication skills must include effective writing and oral delivery of message.
• Problem solver with a high level of organization and inner drive to meet deadlines.
