Director of Nursing

Country Winds Manor in Cresco, IA is looking to hire a Full Time Director of Nursing to oversee the care and services provided in the Patty Elwood Center and Donald Lundak Center.

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of nursing care and services provided to residents and is responsible for daily clinical operations while ensuring the Federal, State, and local standards and regulatory requirements are adhered to.

· Coordinate the nursing schedule; ensuring necessary licensed staffing levels and care coordination. Oversee the nursing staff, quality of care and services provided. The DON is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the quality of nursing care provided. Prepares, reviews and supervises the implementation and revision of care plans to maintain the highest possible degree of independence. The applicant must feel comfortable auditing the care on a daily basis, working side by side the staff to help provide cares and establish/meet all resident care goals.

· Provide routine nursing care under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director. Assist other providers, such as hospice, pharmacy, and therapy departments to properly plan the individual residents nursing care and complete necessary documentation/assessments. Maintain administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for the documentation of care, medication, and treatment received.

· Visits each resident routinely to be knowledgeable of the resident’s current condition and reviews daily reports regarding resident care, as well as meeting with the staff to stay informed. Assure resident/employee rights and privacy of healthcare information is protected. Investigates resident/family complaints and takes appropriate action to resolve the situation. Ensures immediate family notification of any accident, injury, or adverse change in the resident’s condition requiring physician’s notification.

· Be the primary contact for hiring, overseeing orientation and training is of a high standard for the nursing department, and work with new employees to properly on-board them for their position. Complete necessary documentation regarding this. Evaluate performance of all nursing personnel, regularly auditing their work and providing feedback. Monitor employee trainings and ensure they are completed quarterly. Keep employees informed of changes that affect them.

· Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary team and Administrator daily, addressing the daily events to best provide care for the residents/tenants and all employees. Lead the QAPI committee and Safety meetings, prepare audits and report requirements as needed for the meeting.

· Communicate with Administrator daily, promptly reporting accidents, incidents, and unsafe or hazardous conditions/equipment. Regularly inspects the facility for sanitation, safety, and proper working conditions of all equipment. Trains and promotes staff safety with staff to reduce work injuries/illnesses, including proper lift equipment/techniques as well as proper infection control policies and that fall interventions are in place and appropriate for each resident.

· Work with Administrator to set the annual budget. Remain in budget with labor and supply costs as directed by the annual budget.

· Abide by facility policies, procedures, and practices. Work with the Administrator to develop new guidelines for policies, procedures, and practices when recognized. Maintains updated nursing policy and procedure manual and ensures the effective execution of resident care policies.

· Pursues professional growth through attendance of in services.

· Assures compliance with federal and state regulations concerning the standards of practice, investigations and reporting of abuse allegations. Manage clinical aspects of state/federal survey processes.
