Board Election Bio – Pat Giorgio

Pat Giorgio is President/CEO of PLG, Inc., doing business as Evergreen Estates.  Her company consists of 3 residential care communities and 32 independent senior housing apartments.  Pat held the position of Administrator for 21 years.  She started her company with two facilities in 1993 and expanded the company in 2001.  Pat holds a B.S. in Business Administration and a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies.

Pat received recognition from the U.S. Small Business Administration as Cedar Rapids District “Small Business Person of the Year” in 2002.  In 2005 she received the “Advanced Entrepreneur Award” from Women Entrepreneurs of Cedar Rapids.  In 2006 she was recognized by Waypoint as an honoree in the category “Achievements in Her Field.”  In June, 2009 Pat received the American Health Care Association/National Center for Assisted Living’s (AHCA/NCAL) Joe Warner Patient Advocacy Award in Washington, DC.  In 2013 Pat received the Steve Chies Future Leader Award from AHCA/NCAL.

Pat has been a national presenter for a number of organizations, including AHCA/NCAL, Pioneer Network, Argentum, and a number of AHCA/NCAL state affiliates.  She has been a local presenter for Cedar Rapids Elderly Consortium, Chamber of Commerce CEO Roundtable, Alzheimer’s Association, and various local organizations.

Pat is a Past Chair of NCAL.  She currently serves as RCF Director at Large for ICAL.  She also serves on the Independent Owner’s Council for AHCA and on NCAL’s Quality Committee.   In addition, she has served on AHCA’s Quality Improvement Committee , AHCA Governance and By-Laws Committee, and Disaster Preparedness Committee.

Pat has participated with CEAL and the University of North Carolina on 3 separate research projects regarding quality in assisted living.  The most recent manuscript, “Measures and Instruments for Quality Improvement in Assisted Living” was published in the Annals of Long Term Care:  Clinical Care and Aging.
