Board Election Bio – Leah Galvin

Leah Galvin received her Bachelor of Business Administration at Iowa State University.  Her career began in sales and management positions; however, she discovered her passion and advocacy for seniors while working for a skilled nursing facility in Burlington, Iowa.  She went on to work at Southeast Iowa Area Agency coordinating services for the frail and elderly by working closely with home and community based providers for over 8 years.

She became the Executive Director of an Assisting Living Facility in Fort Madison, receiving Community of the Year Award soon after her employment there.  Leah credits a good team of compassionate staff members who welcomed her and supported the mission. She started working as a Regional Director through Senior Housing Management where she managed four newly constructed Assisted Livings as well as other AL communities in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. SunnyBrook Management was created soon after the buildings became operational and she went on to work as a Regional Director. She was promoted to Chief Operating Officer where she was responsible for overseeing the operations of SunnyBrook Assisted Living communities in Burlington, Carroll, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Mount Pleasant and Muscatine.

Leah ventured into home health in 2012, currently managing Advanced Home Health Care in five counties in Iowa: Des Moines, Lee, Henry, Louisa, and Van Buren.  Along with private duty care, this Medicare and Medicaid agency provides skilled and non-skilled care to clients in the area.  The company has expanded from 55 clients to 220 clients today.  Leah credits the agency’s growth and outstanding quality care to the experienced and customer focused staff.

An active member of the Iowa Health Care Association, she is also very involved as a member of The Burlington Rotary Club serving as President 2018-19, hosting an exchange student from Ecuador, and serving on the board for over 6 years. She currently serves on the Burlington Partnership Chamber Board and is a member of the What-So-Ever Circle for the King’s Daughter group in Burlington. She enjoys spending time vacationing with husband Tom and their two daughters, Bailey and Lauren.
