Board Election Bio – Joanie Steil

Joanie Steil is the Administrator and CEO of Family Care Solutions, a home health agency based in Davenport, Iowa. Her agency predominately serves Scott and Muscatine Counties.

The Quad City Times Newspaper awarded her one of the Quad-Cities Women of the Year in 2006 for her contribution in co-founding Hand-in-Hand, an organization that serves over 500 quad city families, offering activities for persons with special needs and respite for their primary caregivers.

Joanie currently is the Board Chair of ICHC and serves on the ICHC survey committee.   Owning FCS for 19 years has provided her with the business, compliance and bureaucratic understanding of home health.  Joanie has been active in representing Home Health in venues with State and Federal Legislators. Her goal has been to take an active role on the board to help assist the State homecare community as well as her local community in the changing landscape of home health care and to assist in making the public more knowledgeable of the importance of the Home Care Profession.  She would like to continue to assist in the improvement of working and negotiating with the MCOs to insure that correct and timely reimbursement for the care and services we provided are paid correctly and timely.  Another important issue she feels is the risk that patient access to care may be compromised due to the arbitrariness of deficiencies in surveys by the DIA. She continues to work to promote positive collaboration with the DIA for the benefit of patient care.
