AHCA/NCAL Long Term Care Career Center
The AHCA/NCAL Long Term Care Career Center provides the only career network dedicated to linking more than 100 participating professional societies and healthcare job seekers to the jobs that persons are looking to fill in long term care. It fills a needed gap by providing qualified candidates with a job board featuring healthcare employment opportunities. This tool can help member facilities attract the well-trained, qualified workforce needed to care for Iowa’s frail, elderly and disabled.
Nursing assistant certification training resources
With the end of the 16-hour CNA training programs at Iowa community colleges, there are few options for employers and potential employees to consider for nurse assistant candidates seeking certification. The IHCA Workforce Committee, with the assistance of Lisa Elwick, LNHA, reviewed possible options (click here for list). IHCA also maintains a database of approved nursing assistant certified programs (click here to view).
Gerontological RN Certification
The RN Test Prep Program, offered through AHCA/NCAL and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, is an online learning course that prepares RNs to pass the Gerontological Certification Exam and attain national certification as a Geronotological Nurse (RN-BC). The program has drawn rave reviews from long term care and assisted living facility owners, administrators and the nurse participants. To learn more about the RN Test Prep Program and the ANCC Geriatric Nurse Certification exam, visit the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep webpage or view the AHCA/NCAL informational webinar.
