Nursing assistant certification training resources
With the end of the 16-hour CNA training programs at Iowa community colleges, there are few options for employers and potential employees to consider for nurse assistant candidates seeking certification. The IHCA ICAL Workforce Committee, with the assistance of Lisa Elwick, LNHA, reviewed possible options (click here for list). The Department of Inspections and Appeals also maintains a database of approved nursing assistant certified programs (click here to view).
Gerontological RN Certification
The RN Test Prep Program, offered through AHCA/NCAL and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, is an online learning course that prepares RNs to pass the Gerontological Certification Exam and attain national certification as a Geronotological Nurse (RN-BC). The program has drawn rave reviews from long term care and assisted living facility owners, administrators and the nurse participants. To learn more about the RN Test Prep Program and the ANCC Geriatric Nurse Certification exam, visit the AHCA/NCAL Gero Nurse Prep webpage or view the AHCA/NCAL informational webinar.
