DIA'S "NEW" N.F. SURVEY PROCESS - JEFFERSON

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION AND SCHEDULE

Program Description

On November 28, 2016 CMS will require Medicare and Medicaid nursing facility providers to be in full compliance with Phase II of the revised Requirements of Participation.  At the same time, a completely new and revised federal survey process will be implemented which blends the traditional survey process currently used in Iowa with the QIS survey process which has been used in other states for several years.  The new survey process includes a whole new assignment and realignment of F-Tags, the use of technology for survey documentation and has a heavy focus on resident and family interviews.  Participants will hear directly from Department of Inspections and Appeals personnel how the new process differs from the traditional survey, how the blended survey process will be conducted and how to prepare for your next survey.  In addition IHCA staff members will share current survey trends and issues arising from State and Federal survey activity in Iowa and guidance, resources and tools to assist providers to prepare for the implementation of the Phase II requirements.
