8:30 a.m.   The Coin’s Other Side: A Positive Care Mindset
The old saying “there are two sides to every coin” is an appropriate metaphor when caring for people with dementia. Often we focus too much mental energy on only one face of the coin...the tough moments. There is, however, a brighter and more uplifting side. Seeing it and knowing how to create it is the central theme of this program.

This session will describe the profound impact of positive mindsets and how to effectively meet the six emotional needs of those who have dementia. The compelling program spiced with gripping video clips, stunning candid photography, and entertaining audience interaction…beautifully coordinated by a unique mother/daughter team of seasoned speaking professionals. They talk from real experience and teach practical, ready-to-use skills. At times you will laugh, at other times cry…but you won’t be bored for a second.

11:45 a.m.   Lunch (Provided)

12:30 p.m.   Staying In Touch: Connecting with Those Who Have Dementia

Additionally there will be a discussion on ‘behavior prevention’ and strength-based activities – known to make life much less frustrating and safer for both residents and staff members. Packed with take-home tools and coaching strategies you can use immediately – this is the dementia session you don’t want to miss!
