Activities and Social Services: Writing CAAs and Individualized Care Plans

The Activity and Social Service Professional’s role goes beyond just the completion of the MDS 3.0. This session focuses on the crucial role that the development and use of CAAs (Care Area Assessments) has on each individual’s Quality of Life and Quality of Care, and the provision of person-centered/directed care. Writing "CAA" content that is then used to create individualized and interdisciplinary care plans will be demonstrated, discussed, and practiced. CATs and CAAs for Psychosocial Well-Being, Behavioral Symptoms, Activities, and Return to Community Referral will be addressed. 

Speaker: Susan Newell, MA, C.T.R.S. is President of T.R. - T.I.P.S., Inc., a firm specializing in interdisciplinary educational services and management products for long term care, hospitals, assisted living, and adult day centers. Susan has a Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation and Administration, and a Master's Certificate in Gerontology, with more than 25 years administrative and hands-on experience.

Join Rod Roberts, Director of the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals and a representative from the State’s Long Term Care Ombudsman office as they discuss the current state of long term care in Iowa and their vision for the future. This frank discussion format will allow you to get feedback direct from each of the departments on issues that you are facing and regulations and standards you would like discussed.
